P6060519_v2I studied Biology at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) and a MSc in Animal Biodiversity at the University of Barcelona (UB). During my master thesis I analysed the effects of pond desiccation and food availability in the fitness of Discoglossus pictus (see Pubs) supervised by Prof. Gustavo A. Llorente.

Currently I am starting my PhD at the University of Oviedo (UO) under the supervision of Prof. Alfredo G. Nicieza.

My PhD project is framed into the project “The role of thermal physiology in the assessment of vulnerability to global warming. Integrating ecological, genetic, and phylogeographic factors into mechanistic models of response to climate change” (REF: CGL2012-40246-C02-02) coordinated by Prof. Alfredo G. Nicieza.

Research interests

I am interested in the evolutionary ecology of organisms, with special attention to the amphibian metamorphosis. The evolution, ecology, and physiology of the plastic responses of anuran larvae to environmental factors such as temperature, pond duration, food availability, and larval density are also of great interest to me, as well as the effects that climate change will have on the temperature dependent adaptive responses.

Besides, I find especially exciting how morphological diversity evolves in response to environmental variation. The evolutionary patterns shaping the ecological niche and morphology of species embody a topic that has long attracted my attention.
